ሐዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ከቴክኖሎጂ መንደር ለተውጣጡ ተማሪዎች የክህሎት ስልጠና እየሰጠ መሆኑ ተገለፀ

የሐዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ምርምርና ቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግር ዳይሬክቶሬት ከቴክኖሎጂ መንደር ለተውጣጡ በሂሳብና በተፈጥሮ ሳይንስ ትምህርት ዘርፎች ከፍተኛ ውጤት ላስመዘገቡ እንዲሁም የፈጠራ ችሎታና ዝንባሌ ላላቸው 2ዐዐ የአንደኛና ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ት/ቤት ተማሪዎች ከሐምሌ 15/2ዐዐ7 ጀምሮ በዩኒቨርሲቲው STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) ማዕከል የክህሎት ማሳደጊያ ስልጠና እየሰጠ መሆኑን አስታወቀ፡፡

በስልጠናው መክፈቻ ላይ የተገኙት ፕሮፌሰር ዮሴፍ ማሞ የሐዋሳ ዩኒቨርስቲ ፕሬዚዳንት በዝግጅቱ ላይ መገኘታቸው እንዳስደስታቸው ገልፀው የዛሬ ተማሪዎች የወደፊቱ ሀገር ተረካቢዎችና ችግር ፈቺ ዜጐች በመሆናቸው ትምህርታቸውን በሚገባ መማርና በሁሉም የትምህርት መስኮች ጠንካራ ተፎካካሪ መሆን እንዳለባቸው ሰልጣኝ ተማሪዎችን መክረዋል፡፡

ዶ/ር ተስፋዬ አበበ የሐዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ምርምርና ቴክኖሎጂ ሽግግር ምክትል ፕሬዚዳንት በበኩላቸው የአንድ ሀገርን የትምህርት ዘርፍ ማሳደግ አጠቃላይ ሀገርን ማሳደግ መሆኑንና ያደጉት ሀገራት አመጣጥም ከትምህርት ዕድገት ጋር የተያያዘና ለሣይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ የትምህርት ዘርፎች ቅድሚያ ሰጥቶ ከመስራት የመነጨ መሆኑን አውስተው በሀገራችን ተጨባጭ ሁኔታ ግን ባለፉት ዓመታት ለሣይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ ቅድሚያ ተሰጥቶ ባለመሰራቱ ዘርፉ ደካማ በሚባል ደረጃ ላይ እንደነበረና ይህም በሀገሪቱ ዕድገት ላይ አሉታዊ ተፅዕኖ ማድረጉን ገልፀዋል፡፡ ዶ/ር ተስፋዬ አያይዘውም ይህንንም ችግር ለመቅረፍ የሐዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሳይንስና ቴክኖሎጂ የትምህርት ዘርፍ እንዲጐለብት ዘርፈ ብዙ እንቅስቃሴ እያደረገ መሆኑን ጠቅሰው ከዚህ ቀደም ለተለያዩ የሂሳብና የተፈጥሮ ሳይንስ መምህራን የተሰጠው ስልጠና እንዲሁም ይህ የተማሪዎች የክህሎት ማሳደጊያ ስልጠና ለዚህ ማሳያ መሆናቸውን ገልፀዋል፡፡    

ስልጠናውን እየተካፈሉ ያሉ አንዳንድ ተማሪዎች እንደገለፁት ይህ ስልጠና መዘጋጀቱ በት/ቤታቸው በቃል ብቻ የሚያውቁትን ቤተ ሙከራ በተግባር መመልከት እንዳስቻላቸውና ስልጠናውን መውሰዳቸው ያላቸውን የሳይንስ ዕውቀትና የፈጠራ ችሎታ እንደሚያሳድግላቸው በመግለፅ ስልጠናው ቀጣይነት ይኑረው ሲሉ አስተያየታቸውን ሰጥተዋል፡፡
ስልጠናው በሁለት ዙር ተከፍሎ እንደሚሰጥና የመጀመሪያ ዙር እስከ ነሐሴ 7/2ዐዐ7 ዓ/ም ድረስ እንደሚቆይ በዕለቱ ተገልጿል፡፡

Science Fair

A science fair competition is  a competition where a contestants present their science project results in a form of a report, display board, and models that they have created. Science fair allows students in elementary, middle and high schools to compete in science and technology activities. It is  a unique way for students to pose questions for which they must seek out answers and to satisfy their own curiosity about the world around them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Participating in a science fair competition /projects/ enables the student to extend his/ her understanding of science. Science being hands- on by nature facilitates the learning process. more importantly, science projects make science more fun and relevant to the student.  It is also believed to be a great way to ignite a student interest in science or to help develop a broader interest in research.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From more than 125 project ideas, 26 problem solving projects were chosen for the science fair competition. The students of these  projects are awarded laptop computers, tablet computers and educational materials.

1, Offerings

  • The science and engineering center houses world class facilities that will change the way we learn and research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The center features innovative learning as well as community and student  recreation facilities.

  • The STEM education program offers a variety of curriculum linked workshops to inspire first and second cycle students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

  • The HWU STEM center hosts a variety of events for first and second cycle or high school students throughout the year.

  • The center offers training on electronics and electricity, mechanics, optics, IT and biology. In addition to these, there is a training on arduino.   Arduino is an open source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy to use hardware and software. In this area students learn how to control lights, motors and other actuators using arduino’s text based programming language and a few simple electrical components.

  • Students explore the fundamental principles of electronics and design creating complex structures with very little engineering knowledge. 

2. Students

  • The students experience how to play. Play is the pre-cursor to problem solving activities. Questioning is central to play. Thus students asking questions of the adult world is vital to their development. As an entering elementary student, they have solved many problems for themselves using different design model.

  • STEM educated students would then continue their educated in consonance with this view of the world. These students are expected to be problem solvers, innovators- recognize the needs of the world and creatively design and implement solutions, self- reliant- able to set own agendas, develop and gain self-confidence and work within time specified time frames,  logical thinker. Technological literate- understanding the nature of technology, master the skills needed and apply it appropriately.

3. Class rooms

  • The HWU STEM center class rooms are active and student centered, equipped to support spontaneous questioning as well as planned investigation, center for innovation and invention,  classroom,  laboratory and engineering  lab are physically one, equipped with  small hand tools, malleable materials and ventilation to specification, out fitted with computers with STEM software, supportive of teaching in multiple modalities, furniture is easily reconfigured, serves students with a variety of leering styles.
